Peniche city of surf

in the 60’s some Australians came to Peniche with surfboards and wetsuits and like crazy went in the water and slide on the waves. Well peniche locals, always adventurers, didn’t want to stare and with some equipment borrowed from the Aussies tried to rip the waves. This is how surfing was born in Peniche. Since then surfing is a part of life in the area, many of the best surfers and bodyboarders in Portugal are Peniche locals.

Thanks to its great location (about 100km north of Lisbon) and to its number of beaches, Peniche is an excelent destination for any surfer.

Here you will find many conditions to suit every surfer. With various spots that can handle different swells and winds, in Peniche it’s rare not to find a wave.

But, apart from surfing Peniche has many other attractions. In this website you will not only find a guide of the best spots to surf in Peniche but also a survival manual to hang out in the area (where to eat, where to go for a beer, meet people, etc.).
